Fingle Glen prides itself on the friendly atmosphere and great team spirit generated within the club. All sections contribute to making Fingle Glen the envy of all other clubs in the area with regards to its social activity.
Men’s section
Hold competitions every Saturday morning and Tuesday afternoons in the summer and Tuesday mornings in the winter. A fun 9 hole competition is held on Tuesday evenings during the summer which is open to all sections. The first team compete in the Palairet Trophy winning it twice in the previous 5 years, and the Parker Trophy (Scratch foursomes) of which we were beaten finalist in its inaugural year. The team also contests the East Devon League and are proud to boast 10 victories in the previous
12 renewals. B-team fixtures are arranged throughout the year and these prove to be great social occasions.
The below open competitions are ope to Men, Ladies and Juniors (apart from the Mens open which is only open to Men and Juniors that are male)
PROFESSIONAL BOWL - Sat 28 July
Ladies section
Play on Wednesday mornings or Saturday immediately following the competition for their alternative day. The Ladies are represented in the County competitions for all Divisions including the Presidents Cup, Still Cup and Sheelagh Creasy Bowl and also compete for the Devon Ladies League for which we are the reigning champions.
Seniors section
Play competitions on Monday mornings and have a roll-up Stableford on Thursday mornings. They enter the County Emerton Court Competition as well as having in excess of 20 friendly matches throughout the course of the year.
Juniors section
Run smoothly and efficiently by junior organiser Debbie Harris. Competitions are run regularly on Sundays and throughout the school holidays and interclub matches in the East Devon Junior League. The team also competes in the Basil Steer Knockout Competition. A Junior Academy is staged each summer which helps significantly in bringing the next generation of golfers into the club.
