Haverfordwest won the match last week, but the team had a great day in Wales. The hospitality was welcomed and they enjoyed the trip. Good luck in the next round.

This weeks competition was the Club Foursomes and Daily Mail Foursomes qualifer. Anwen Breading and Paula Cowl won with 37 points, from Anne Hazelwood and Michelle Underwood with 36 points. Pat Greenfield and Molly Hutchings were third with 33 points. There was one 2, on the 6th, from Eve Andrews and Mary Smith.

Good luck to the team who are off to Haverfordwest for the Mail on Sunday competition on the 22nd.

Today was the annual Lady Captains Day, with the results combined with last Saturday for those who could not make it today. The overall winner was Jane Cornelius, with a bb9 and a cut in her handicap. Welcome back Jane. Kate Blake was second, also with 39, and Anne Short third with 38. Debbie Harris (36), Ellen Norton (35) and Anwen Breading (34) took the other places. Nearest the pin in 2 on the first went to Thea Durbin and on the 18th, to Ellen Norton. Nearest the pin on the 9th went to Debbie Harris and on the 14th to Ann Short.

Thea Durbin, vice captain, presented Anne Hazelwood, Lady Captain, with a lovely bouquet of flowers.

Thanks to all who helped make the day work so smoothly, especially Anne and Chris Hazelwood, Anwen Breading and Ollie Cowl.

The Sheelah Creasey team are through to the semi finals at Ilfracombe, having beaten Crediton at Dawlish Warren. They play Staddon Heights in their semi, and the other semi is between Saunton and Portmore.

The league team beat Axe Cliffe 5 - 1 to take top spot in their division, with one game in hand and they qualify for the finals day at Saunton  on the 1st October.

Last Saturdays competition (EWGA Medal 9) was the first leg of the Queens Jubilee Trophy, which was completed today (EWGA 10).

Kate Blake won the first leg, with a brilliant score of 67 net, which earned her a cut in handicap. Eve Andrews was second with 73 (welcome back) and Yvonne Alford was third also on 73.

Anne Woodger won the second leg with a net 74, Pat Greenfield was second with 77 and Thea Durbin was third with 79.

The Trophy goes to Kate Blake, well done and well deserved.

1st August 2010

Today's competitions are the Ladies Club Championships, 18 holes for the Senior Ladies and 36 holes for the rest, medalplay. The gross scores over 36 holes decide the Kemp Scratch Cup.  

First the Seniors, Sandra Townsley won on 72, Ann Short was second with 75 and Sue Cocks third with 78.

The main handicap competition resulted in a new name on the trophy, as Kelly Greenstreet won at her first attempt (69 + 67 = 136). Bridget Culver was second with 142 (71 + 71) and Kate Blake a close third with 144 (74 + 70). 

The Kemp Scratch Cup was won by Kate Blake, with Anne Woodger second.

This weeks competition was the John Cracknell trophy, which the men will complete on Saturday. The top three ladies are Kate Blake with 36 points, Sue Cocks with 35 points and Pat Greenfield with 34 points.

The Mail on Sunday Classic team are through to the final 16 of the national competition, having beaten Cape Cornwall, Penzance 4.5 to 0.5 yesterday. Wins from Ann Hazelwood, Ellen Norton, Michelle Underwood and Anne Woodger, and a hard fought half from Sandra Townsley, mean the girls are now awaiting next weeks draw to see who they play in the 8th round.  Well done all round.

We all wish Molly Hutchings and Bernadette Maynard well for their Australian Spoons event tomorrow in Gloucestershire. 

Any alternative day (Saturday) ladies who wish to play in the Ladies Captains day on the Wednesday, 11th August, are reminded to contact Anne Woodger by the previous Wednesday, to request a change of nominated day of play. The Saturday 7th August competition will go ahead as usual, but the results will be combined and prizes distributed on the Wednesday.

Yesterday, the Home Open was won by Anne Woodger with 33 points, Sue Cocks was second with 27 points and Bernardette Maynard was third with 25 points.

Last weekend, Paula Cowl partnered Luke Burchell to win the Mixed Open, more details on the main results section.

The League team are now top of their division, having won away at Axe Cliffe on Monday. Well done all.

This week's competition was the Founders Shield, individual Stableford format.

The trophy went to Laura Millar with 38 points. Ellen Norton was second with 37 points and Kate Blake third with 35. Sue Cocks was 4th with 31 points and Jane Cornelius fifth with 29 points.  

9th July 2010 Ladies Open

Thank you to all the home players and visitors who turned out for the Ladies Open today. Format was 3BBB, full handicap, 2 scores to count.

Top home team was Molly Hutchings, Norma Gillson and Sue Cocks with 82 points. Second were Kay King, Amanda Winsor and Kath Mansell on 78, with a better back 3 from Ann Hazelwood, Ellen Norton and Donna Pearse.

Top visitors were Sarah Faithful, Jane Hodgson and Kath Burgess, from Teign Valley, with 78. Second were Denise Markell, Janice Hayes and Janet Derrett from Tiverton with the Exminster trio of Tina Bindon, Luci Lacey and Helen Soper coming a close third.

Jane Hodgson (Teign Valley) won the nearest the pin prize on the 9th and Ann Hazelwood won on the 14th. There were three 2's, all from home players and all on the 14th, so congratulations to Thea Durbin, Pat Greenfield and Ann Hazelwood.

The Par Tree competition is open to all maximum handicap ladies, so if you score a gross par in a qualifying competition, please record it in the book on the notice board. There are currently three entries in the book, so it is possible that not all ladies are aware of this competition.

Jane Lee and Ann Hazelwood won their Doris Willes-Little match against Torrington and are through to the third round against East Devon.

The Creasey team beat Thurlestone 6-1.  Well done to Paula Cowl who won her match 10-8 !

Ann Hazelwood, Paula Cowl and Anwen Breading won a golf break in Spain in the Dreamaway Charity competition at Stover.
